Orange County Public Relations Society of America Named National Diversity Award Recipient
(Irvine, CA) October 24, 2005 — The Public Relations Society of America has selected the Orange County chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (OC/PRSA) as a recipient of the second Annual Chapter Diversity Awards. Chapter Diversity Awards are given to PRSA chapters that embody and demonstrate key values in diversity as outlined in PRSA’s National Diversity Committee’s mission. Also recognized were the National Capital Chapter, the Greater Cleveland Chapter and the St. Louis Chapter. OC/PRSA formed its Diversity Committee in July 2004 in an effort to diversify OC/PRSA’s membership and to encourage greater diversity within the PR profession. Last February, the 25-member Diversity Committee organized an inaugural diversity conference, the first major program in Southern California that focused entirely on diversity issues in the practice of public relations. "Diversity in PR: New Challenges, New Opportunities" was considered an overwhelming success, with workshops and speakers encouraging PRSA members and nonmembers to embrace diversity as a priority as well as a smart business strategy. The Diversity Committee is continuing to expand upon its preliminary success through increased visibility within the chapter’s website, organizing networking events, and providing ongoing workshops on the topic of diversity. Membership in OC/PRSA’s Diversity Committee is open to members and non-members alike. For more information, visit the chapter’s website at: www.ocprsa.org or contact Judy Iannaccone at (714) 480-7503. The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) supports diversity through its Advancing Diversity initiative, which promotes multiculturalism in both the public relations industry and business community. The PRSA National Diversity Committee (www.diversity.prsa.org) advances the objectives of and develops an inclusive Society by reaching and involving members who represent a broad spectrum of ethnic, racial and sexual-orientation groups, and by providing professional development, knowledge and support to professionals of diverse race, gender, sexual orientation or ethnicity to help them succeed in public relations. The Orange County chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, the country's largest national association of public relations professionals, is comprised of members from business and industry, public relations counseling firms, government agencies, educational institutions, trade and professional groups, healthcare groups and not-for-profit organizations.  Read More...

Enter to Win A Trip to the New Orleans Jazz Festival and DVD Classics from Universal!
Enter to Win a Trip for 2 Couples to the famed New Orleans Jazz Festival and your own set of the cult classic "Imitation of Life" just released by Universal Studios Home Video. Considered one of the most acclaimed films of its time, Universal Studios Home Video is celebrating the 70th anniversary of the timeless classic by featuring both the original 1934 and 1959 versions on one disc. A favorite of many, this is the first time ever that you can own the original 1934 version. Timeless and still relevant today, Universal's "Urban Suite" DVD set is being introduced to a whole new generation. Enter to Win exciting prizes, including a vacation for two to the 35th Annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. TO ENTER: Entry can be done online or by mail.
