Jersey City, NJ—The Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund’s New Jersey - Asian American Legal Project (NJ-AALP), in partnership with the Govinda Sanskar Center, will offer a free unemployment insurance clinic for the Indian American community to be held on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 5:30pm.
With the economic downturn, many Indian Americans are losing their jobs and getting laid off. However, many of these workers may be eligible for New Jersey’s unemployment insurance benefits. In some cases, workers could qualify for up to $600 per week in benefit payments.
This clinic will offer free, confidential legal advice to workers on unemployment insurance eligibility and how to apply for and maintain these benefits. Interpretation will be available in Gujarati and Hindi.
